Embracing Our Testimony: A Journey of Faith and Boldness

Understanding Paul’s Message to Timothy

What instruction did Paul give Timothy concerning the testimony of Christ? In 2 Timothy 1:7-8 (Berean Standard), we find powerful guidance. Paul reminds us, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. So do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me, His prisoner. Instead, join me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God.”

This passage encourages us to embrace our faith boldly. God has saved us and called us to a holy purpose—not because of our works, but by His grace. This grace was granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

The Call to Share Our Faith

Amen and amen! If Jesus Christ has saved your life and forgiven your sins, we should shout it from the rooftops! John 3:16 reminds us of the importance of asking for forgiveness and turning from our sins.

Romans 1:16 states, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.” This is a powerful reminder that our faith is a gift we must share.

Mark 8:38 warns us, “If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

Praise God! He chose us to share His Good News.

The Example of Peter and John

Let’s look at the example of Peter and John. In Acts 4:20, they were commanded not to speak of Jesus. Why? Because they were healing and preaching the good news of Jesus Christ as the Messiah. The Sanhedrin, the leaders of the time, didn’t like it, so they forbade Peter and John from speaking.

What did these men do? They boldly declared, “For we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” They chose to obey God rather than men.

When the disciples heard that Peter and John were forbidden to speak about Jesus (Acts 4:24), they prayed with one accord. They spoke the Word of God with boldness, just like in Acts 4:31.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit for boldness. Remember to pray and ask God for more power to be a witness. Just tell your story about how you were forgiven. This is God’s plan for us—to share our faith one by one, passing it through the heart.

Ezekiel 3:17-18 reminds us, “Son of Man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel: so hear the word I speak and give them warning from Me.” If Ezekiel didn’t warn the sinners, God would require their blood at his hand.

Thank God we are under grace now! But this shows how important it is to share the Good News of God’s rescue plan—eternal life only in Jesus Christ and forgiveness of sins.

The Victor’s Crown Awaits

In 2 Timothy 4:8, we learn a lot from this book. Because we believe in Jesus for forgiveness of sins and eternal life, we are promised a victor’s crown of righteousness. This crown is for being right with God. The Lord, the righteous judge, will give it to us on that day—not just to us, but also to all who have loved and longed for His appearing.
