Salvation Prayer (How to Scripturally Pray for an Unbeliever’s Salvation, inspired from Andrew Wommack’s Book. The Believers Authority
I have found through the years that I wasn’t quite sure how to pray for the salvation of those people in my life who don’t know Jesus. There are, of course, many ways to pray for others to come into a relationship with Jesus and praying scripture based prayers is one way I have found effective. Having some structure helps me keep focused on my goal so a carefully planned out prayer is useful to me. This type of prayer also builds up my expectation because the Word of God is living and energizes all who interact with it (by speaking it, thinking it, meditating on it).
This is one prayer that you can try that I pray. I will share it in parts. This first piece begins by reminding us that we are joining Jesus in prayer. Salvation is His idea and sometimes our hearts long for someone to be saved so intently that we forget that the desire for their salvation originates from His heart. So it begins by humbly acknowledging God’s love and care.
PRAYER :::::::
Thank You, Heavenly Father, that You are not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). I thank You that You love __________ (person’s name) more than I love __________ (person’s name) and that You gave Your only begotten Son, Jesus, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). I praise You for being so loving and good; so much so that You love __________ (person’s name) much more than I do. I thank You that You have already made provision for __________ (person’s name) salvation. You have supplied Jesus as the propitiation, the atoning sacrifice, for every person’s sins, not just my sins and __________ ’s (person’s name) sins, but also for the sins of the whole world (1John 2:2). Thank You that You have already forgiven __________ ’s (person’s name) sins, every one. Thank You that You have already paid for __________’s (person’s name) salvation and now it is simply a matter of __________ (person’s name) receiving Your salvation.
How can __________ (person’s name) believe and receive Jesus as __________ (his/her) Lord and Savior if __________ (he/she) hasn’t heard the good news (Romans 10:14)? Please, Lord, send Your Word to __________ (person’s name). I offer myself first. Please give me an opportunity to share the gospel with __________ (person’s name). Lord of the Harvest, would You also please send others across __________’s (person’s name) path that will speak the Word to __________ (him/her) and share the gospel in a way that __________ (he/she) can understand and believe (Matthew 9:38).
Please consider using these prayers to help you bring those you love into a salvation experience. They are wonderful tools to use as you seek to share your faith effectively.
